The Grand Prairie Police Department is conducting an investigation into a tragic traffic collision that took place on Sunday, June 18, 2023, in the 4700 block of E IHâ€30. The incident resulted in the loss of life and caused injuries to several individuals.
According to authorities, at approximately 2:50 a.m., a Ford pickup truck was traveling westbound on IHâ€30 when the driver failed to maintain control of the vehicle's speed. As a result, the truck collided with slow-moving traffic ahead, leading to a chain reaction crash involving multiple vehicles.
Tragically, one of the passengers in a vehicle struck during the collision suffered critical injuries and was transported to a local hospital. Regrettably, despite medical efforts, the individual was pronounced deceased at the hospital. The identity of the deceased will be disclosed by the Dallas County Medical Examiner's Office once the next of kin has been notified.
Additionally, two other occupants involved in the crash were also taken to a local hospital for treatment. Fortunately, their injuries were determined to be non-life-threatening, providing some relief amid the tragic circumstances.
The Grand Prairie Police Department is actively investigating the incident to establish a clear understanding of the factors that contributed to the collision. They will be examining various aspects, including the driver's actions, speed, and other relevant factors, to determine the cause of the accident.
Authorities have not released any further details about the individuals involved or the vehicles affected in the chain reaction crash.
